Management concerned by tablet devices in the workplace

The popularity of tablet devices and smartphones has been shown to provide new and innovative advantages across a range of business areas, with better flexibility and mobile networking opportunities.

However, according to a recent survey by networking giant Cisco, there are still some significant barriers to employees being able to bring their own equipment to work.

In a recent report, researchers found that 48 per cent of organisation covered would not consider allowing the practice.

While many indicated that devices issued by the firm itself would be okay to use, they were unable to be sure that their system would not be compromised if employees began to use their own technology.

While cloud storage and online sharing portals can be accessed by a range of smartphones and tablets, Cisco's report indicates that many of the 1,500 managers surveyed are not ready accept these devices in the workplace.

It could be that they fear that expensive internal framework upgrades would be necessary, but with online storage these worries are removed - as files can be stored and shared from virtually any location with internet access through a secure web portal
